Description: This sepceis is characterized by its distinctive tuberculate with hard endocarp fruits and glossy foliage. Large trees with buttress. Leaves simple, alternate, clustered at the tip of branchlets. Flowers bisexual, white, in axillary racemes. Fruit drupe, oblong or ellipsoid, green, ferrugenous tomentose, stones single, compressed, coarsely tuberculate, 1-2 celled.

Habitat: Evergreen to semi-evergreen forests.

Distribution:  Indo-Malesia ; in the Western Ghats- South and Central Sahyadris.

Uses: Used for its ornamental value in landscaping and gardens. Anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-anxiety and analgesic. Decoction of the bark is used as a remedy for rheumatism, indigestion and biliousness. Stem bark is given for inducing abortion until the third month of pregnancy.
