Description:

Inga edulis, commonly known as ice-cream bean, is a tropical tree bearing long pods filled with sweet pulp surrounding large seeds.

Habitat: A medium-sized to large tree.

Distribution: Northern and western S. America – Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, & the Guyanas.

Uses:  Inga edulis is used for its edible fruits and nitrogen-fixing properties in agroforestry systems
