Description:

Chrysophyllum cainito, also known as star apple or caimito, is a tropical tree with glossy, dark green leaves and purple or green fruits that have a star-like pattern when sliced open, containing sweet, white or purple flesh.

Habitat: Humid woodlands at low to medium elevations.

Distribution:  A fairly common cultivated tree.

Uses: Chrysophyllum cainito, is eaten fresh as a sweet and juicy snack, and its fruit is sometimes used in desserts and beverages.
