Introduction

At Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences Kakkanad, we believe that education is a right for all, regardless of background, ability, or community. The Equal Opportunity Cell was established to uphold this belief and ensure that every student, irrespective of their caste, community, gender, or physical ability, has equal access to all the opportunities our college has to offer.

Our aim is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where students from SC/ST communities, backward classes, differently-abled individuals, and others facing social or economic challenges can thrive. We work actively to remove barriers, provide necessary support, and promote equality in every aspect of campus life.

Vision and Mission

VISION

The vision of this cell is to help and empower the students belonging to Scheduled caste/ scheduled tribe, other backward caste, minorities, persons with disabilities on a continual basis. The cell enable the students to participate fully in the academic, intellectual, social and cultural life of university on an equal basis. They ensure that there is no discrimination in the university on grounds of disability or minority status.

MISSION

  • Monitor effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups.
  • Provide guidance and counselling on academic, financial and other matters.
  • Promote diversity among campus
Purpose
  • To foster an inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds, including SC/ST communities, backward classes, and differently-abled individuals, feel welcomed and valued.
  • To provide equal access to educational resources, facilities, and opportunities for all students, ensuring that no one is disadvantaged due to their background or physical abilities.
  • To conduct workshops, seminars, and awareness programs that educate the campus community about issues related to discrimination, inequality, and the importance of diversity.
  • To offer counselling, mentorship, and financial aid to students who may face social, economic, or physical challenges, helping them to overcome obstacles and succeed academically.
  • To serve as a platform where students can report cases of discrimination or bias, and to ensure that these grievances are addressed promptly and fairly
  • To develop and enforce policies that promote equal opportunities in admissions, scholarships, employment, and other areas, aligning with national and institutional guidelines.
  • To actively encourage and facilitate the participation of students from marginalized communities in all college activities, including cultural, sports, and academic events.
  • To work with governmental and non-governmental organizations to bring in additional support, resources, and opportunities for students who need them.
