Common Tailorbird Orthotomus sutorius

Common Tailorbird Orthotomus sutorius

The Common Tailorbird is a small, active bird found in South and Southeast Asia, known for its distinctive call and remarkable nesting behavior. It has olive-green upperparts and a pale underside, with a long, pointed tail. This bird is often seen flitting through shrubs and low trees. It feeds on insects and spiders. The name “tailorbird” comes from its unique nest-building technique, where it stitches leaves together using plant fibers or spider silk to create a secure nest like a tailor stich cloth. Tailorbirds are highly territorial and vocal, often heard before they are seen.
