The Crimson-backed Sunbird is a small, vibrantly colored bird found in the Western Ghats. Males are particularly striking with their iridescent crimson back, while females are more subdued with olive-green plumage. This species inhabits tropical and subtropical moist forests, often seen flitting among flowers. It feeds primarily on nectar, supplemented by insects and spiders. The Crimson-backed Sunbird plays a crucial role in pollination. Makes whistling calls while flying. These birds are known for their rapid, darting flight and often build their nests in the form of hanging pouches from tree branches that are usually camouflage. The Crimson-backed Sunbird helps in the pollination of several plant species where it forages flowers for nectar.
