The Plain Flowerpecker is a tiny bird found in South and Southeast Asia, characterized by its dull olive or greyish plumage. Probably one of the smallest birds in India. Despite its plain appearance, it plays a vital role in pollination and seed dispersal. This bird inhabits forests, gardens, and plantations, feeding on nectar, fruits, and insects. It has a short, curved bill adapted for feeding from flowers. The Plain Flowerpecker is often seen flitting through foliage and making high-pitched, metallic calls. It builds small, pouch-like nests suspended from tree branches. These birds are active and constantly moving, contributing to their role in their ecosystems. Plain flowerpecker is known for their service in dispersing seeds of Loranthus spp., a parasitic plant genus.
