The Purple Sunbird is a small, iridescent bird found in South Asia, known for the striking metallic blue and purple plumage of the male. Females are drabber with olive-brown coloring. This species thrives in a variety of habitats including gardens, forests, and scrublands. Purple Sunbirds feed mainly on nectar, but also consume insects and spiders. Their long, curved bills are well-adapted to their feeding habits. These birds are highly active and vocal, often seen flitting between flowers. They build hanging nests and are known for their aggressive behavior towards intruders in their territory. Another important bird species from the nectariinidae family member, that performs pollination to several plant species.
