Rattus is a rodent genus of the family Muridae that are generally called rats. However, the term rat can also be applied to rodent species outside of this genus. Rats generally lives in abandoned place which is unattended for long time. It also lives in godowns, houses, large buildings, etc. It damages food storage especially the cereals and pulses. It also damages tuber crops such as tapioca, corms, etc.
