Vernal Hanging-Parrot Loriculus vernalis (Indian Lorikeet)

The Vernal Hanging-Parrot, also known as the Indian Lorikeet, is a small, brightly colored parrot found in South and Southeast Asia. It has vivid green plumage with a red beak and a splash of red on its rump. This bird is named for its habit of hanging upside down while feeding on nectar, fruits, and flowers. It inhabits forests, plantations, and gardens. The Vernal Hanging-Parrot is known for its high-pitched calls especially during flight. It nests in tree cavities, often lining them with leaves. These parrots are social and can often be seen in small flocks.
