Description:
Glochidion ellipticum is a species of flowering plant characterized by its elliptical leaves and small, round fruits.

Habitat: Evergreen and shola forests

Distribution: Endemic to the Western_Ghats- South and Central Sahyadris.

Uses: Employed in traditional medicine for its potential therapeutic properties. Phlobatannins are present in Glochidion ellipticum. Phlobatannins have been reported for its wound healing properties. It anti- inflammatory and analgesic and antioxidant properties as well. It is known for its water purifying capacity and hence grown close to ponds and wells in Kerala.
