Description: It is a medium to large sized evergreen trees that can reach height of up to 15m. The leaves of candle fruit trees are simple, alternate, and dark green in color. They are typically elliptical or ovate in shape and have a smooth texture. Flowers ser solitary or in groups of 2-4 born directly on the trunk or the main branches (cauliflory), green calyx are spathaceous, white or white-greenish corolla is campanulate with 3-6cm long and 5cm diameter. The tree produces 25-60cm long, waxy skinned, green-yellow berry fruits resembling tapered candles.
Distribution: All throughout the world especially in the tropical countries.
Uses: The fruits and seeds of this tree are considered to be edible and are generally safe for human consumption.
