Description:
This species is a tropical evergreen tree species in Southeast Asian countries. A tall tree with large
boles and several branches often buttressed with stilt roots. Leaves are large with dark green above
light grey beneath. Leaves elliptic10-25cm long and 4-6.5 cm wide, coriaceous, glossy dark green,
petioles 1- 4 cm long. Flowers in terminal panicles, up to 2 cm in diameter, yellowish white or creamy
or white, fragrant. Fruit a capsule, ellipsoid or globose, 2.5-4 cm across, ribbed, dull pinkish.  Seed
solitary, fleshy, about 2×1.5 cm diameter.

Distribution: Tropical regions of Southeast Asia

Uses: The timber of this species is durable, commonly used in construction, furniture making, and as
a source of traditional medicine. The wood makes a good fuel.
