Description: This plant species is a solitary, unarmed palm with a narrow trunk. The crown is sparse, consisting of several pinnately compound leaves. Leaflets are stiff which are dark green above and greyish silvery beneath. The inflorescence arises from the leaf axis. Fruits are in dense clusters of bright red color.

Habitat:  Sheltered coastal positions on limestone and sandy soils.

Distribution: Worldwide

Uses: This plant is commonly used in the horticultural industry. The sap is used to make alcoholic beverages in some places especially its native place and the fruits are used as a fodder to animals.
