Description:

A large, deciduous tree growing to 30 m tall, with a trunk diameter of about 1m. The fruit is ovoid, 3 cm long, with five wings not extending beyond the fruit apex.

Habitat:  Moist and dry deciduous forests.

Distribution: India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam

Uses: Used in the traditional medicine for its astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, and its wood is valued for its durability in construction and furniture making. The wood is used for furniture, cabinetwork, joinery, paneling, specialty items, boat-building, railroad cross-ties (treated), decorative veneers and for musical instruments
