Description: A lofty evergreen tree that grow up to 50m in height. Leaves are simple alternate with about 15-38cm long and 6-15cm wide. Inflorescence in axillary panicles, hoary stellate pubescent. Flowers bisexual, large, fragrant, pink or white, pedicellate, bracts persistent. Fruit capsule, subglobose-ovoid, indehiscent, tri-valved, enclosed in scarcely accrescent calyx lobes.
Distribution: Endemic to Southern Western Ghats
Uses: Wood is used in building construction, cabinet making, agricultural implements etc. Resin used in folk medicine.
